The dentist chair may not be your favorite place (no offense taken!). We specialize in treating patients with dental anxiety and offer accommodations to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

We strive to create a calm atmosphere and use multiple techniques to help anxious patients relax during treatment. Gentle dental care is combined with patience and listening, which provides an environment where we can successfully address your dental needs.
Nitrous oxide sedation
Sedation with nitrous oxide, more commonly known as “laughing gas,” decreases anxiety and promotes relaxation while you remain conscious. Nitrous oxide and oxygen are mixed together and then inhaled through a mask that covers the nose prior and during a dental procedure. Nitrous oxide causes sensations of lightheadedness, relaxation, and a comfortable, warm-all-over feeling. Safe, effective, and non-invasive, nitrous oxide is the sedation method of choice for anxious or fearful patients.
Oral sedation
If nitrous oxide alone is not enough to control your anxiety, a prescription medication may be used. Valium and Ativan are two of the most commonly used anti-anxiety medications used. Anxiety control medications are taken one hour before the dental appointment. It is important that the patient does not drive themselves to/from the dental appointment when oral sedation medications are used.
Headphones and music
We provide our patients with the option of listening to music during their appointment. We have thousands of songs/artists to choose from. Music helps calm your anxiety and provides a calming escape from the dental work being performed.
What to expect as a new patient
At your initial examination we take a comprehensive medical and dental history, conduct an evaluation of the mouth tissues and how your teeth function together, take necessary x-rays and appropriate digital photos, and discuss any cosmetic concerns. We then create a treatment plan through thoughtful analysis and collaboration.
